This year-end we’re raising $20,000 to support our 2024-2025 season.

As you probably know, this season has a wonderful mix of offerings: a new play by a South Florida playwright in The Last Christmas, a classic in All My Sons, and a Florida premiere in Confederates—an eclectic group of transformative plays.

And BIG NEWS…we have a 2:1 matching challenge through December 23rd!

We’re so excited to share that a generous donor will match every dollar contributed, up to $20,000 twofold! This means:

  • Every $1 you donate becomes $3

  • Campaign goal: $20,000

  • Potential total raised: $60,000

This is an unprecedented opportunity for New City Players! Make sure to make your donation before December 23rd to take advantage of this incredible match.

Your gift—whether it’s $5 or $25 or $2,500—ensures we continue delivering an eclectic mix of stories and community events that enact our mission of creating community through transformative theatre.

Every story deserves to be told and heard.

This idea is at the heart of New City Players’ mission to create community through transformative theatre and a primary focus of our programming each season.

We’ve heard that it can be hard to pin down a New City Players’ season. Where is the continuity? Who is the target audience? It seems a little all over the place…

Exactly.

Our seasons are eclectic and this is intentional.

Whether it’s a classic play, a new play, a contemporary play, a tragedy, a comedy, or a holiday show, we love sharing stories from a diverse range of perspectives and experiences.

We believe representing our community is critical to building our community by showcasing stories where we can both see ourselves and seek to understand others.

Broward County is the most diverse county in Florida and so the eclectic nature of our programming is necessary to serve our mission and achieve our vision.

Here’s the good news: the impact of this missional focus is working!

  • We broke all box office records with A Streetcar Named Desire this past July.

  • We hosted our largest short play weekend ever in September which featured 5 brand new plays from local playwrights all developed at our monthly NCPLab event.

  • We’ve increased artist wages every year since we started, making our largest increase this year.

  • We recently welcomed our first full-time staff member to handle the operational and development parts of the company.

New City Players is growing and that growth must be intentional by fostering more opportunities to deepen engagement and to create sustainable plan for the future.

It means building on what we’ve started: events like NCPLab where local playwrights can develop new work and our Beyond the Stage events; post show experiences where audiences can connect with one another and the creators and continue the conversation that each play initiates.

Will you join us in doing this work?

A single performance in our 24-25 season costs $4,287. If we sold every ticket at full price, it would generate only $2,760. This doesn’t include any overhead or marketing expenses either.

This is why fundraising—especially our year-end campaign—plays a critical role in hitting our annual fund goal so we can continue to bring an eclectic mix of stories to life that do what only live theatre can do: hold a mirror up to society by asking big questions that comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.

Give today to triple your impact!

Our mission is to create community through transformative theatre.

Our vision is to help South Florida become a more empathetic and thoughtful community.
