Our next NCPLab is May 19th, 7pm, at LauderAle Brewery!

Prompt: Mayday! Mayday! Did you know the first planes to go missing in the Bermuda Triangle took off from Fort Lauderdale? Our city might mark one of the mysterious shape’s three vertices. Write a 10-page or less play in which something or someone has gone missing.

Please make sure that your 10 page plays come out at around 10 minutes! We also encourage plays with casts of 4 or less if you hope to be considered for our annual short play performance, Short Plays: Lauder Made.

Email your play submission to community@newcityplayers.org. Include a character breakdown (age, race, gender) and any content trigger warnings on the first page of your play. Submissions are due by May 15th, at 11:59pm.

The Process

  1. Whether you are a playwright, actor, or spectator please use the button below to register for upcoming labs.

  2. If you would like to submit a play for lab please register below and then email your play to community@newcityplayers.org and include the following on the front page: character breakdown/descriptions and any content warnings. Submission deadline: March 27th

  3. Playwrights whose plays are selected are encouraged to bring questions for the spectators and participants in order to garner feedback. This is not required, but we encourage writers to take advantage of the gathered artists reactions to their work. Example questions could be:

    1. What stood out to you in the play?

    2. How would you describe this play to a friend?

    3. What was very clear in the story? Was anything confusing about the story?

What is NCPLab? An open gathering for theatre artists and community members looking to create and connect.

Anyone is welcome to spectate or participate! We will be writing and discussing new plays and connecting with artists from all over.

This gathering is for theatre artists to practice their craft, try new things, stretch themselves artistically, and connect as people.
