For a decade, New City Players has been a place where isolation gives way to community, where strangers become neighbors, and where the divides between us—social, political, spiritual—shrink through the shared experience of live performance.

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary in 2025-26, we reaffirm our commitment to theatre as a radical act of connection in a world increasingly defined by separation.

For the first time, we’ll be presenting three main stage productions at Island City Stage, each with 13 performances, alongside two limited-run productions at General Provision, each with 5 performances. By adding a fifth production to our season, we’re creating more opportunities for our audiences to engage with us and one another. This change allows us to offer a more consistent rhythm of productions throughout the year, making it easier for people to connect, build relationships, and experience the transformative power of live theatre.

Coming up this season:

The 39 Steps
adapted by Patrick Barlow

Island City Stage | October 4-19, 2025
Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Steps, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an onstage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance!

It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play
adapted by Joe Landry

General Provision | December 18-21, 2025
The beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 2025 radio broadcast featuring live foley sound effects and a small ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage. Perhaps no other story represents New City Players' emphasis to build community so compellingly as It's a Wonderful Life.

A Case for the Existence of God
by Samuel D. Hunter

Island City Stage | February 21-March 8, 2026
An intimate exploration of parenthood, financial insecurity, and male loneliness, the play unfolds in a cubicle where two men (Keith, a gay Black mortgage broker, and Ryan, a straight White yogurt plant worker) unexpectedly choose to bring one another into their fragile worlds. The play deftly addresses the male search for connection and purpose, a topic that is not often discussed in our artistic spaces but has had monumental political impact in recent years.

Lauder Made Vol. II
by local playwrights

General Provision | April 30-May 3, 2026
This eclectic 75 minutes of theatre will feature 5 of the best new plays by South Florida playwrights curated from our NCPLab community and celebrating the creativity, diversity, and culture of our greater Fort Lauderdale region. This project will amplify a diversity of voices from our community who have been working off of Broward-themed writing prompts at our monthly NCPLab event.

Burst
by Rachel Bublitz

Island City Stage | July 11-26, 2026
This funny and piercing play takes place over one 90 minute period as the CEO of the tech company Tactix (whose goal is to eliminate plastic from the earth), dukes it out with a particularly tough reporter and her waffling CTO. Confronting topics like corporate responsibility, climate change, and women in tech, this play puts a crosshairs on some of our most important contemporary cultural conversations.
