Nov. 13-29, 2026 at Island City Stage
A Florida premiere.
Premiered on Broadway in 2024.

2 Hours, 15 Minutes including intermission
THE SETUP
A doctor becomes convinced the town's water is making people sick. If he's right, fixing it would cost the town its livelihood. Now the whole community has to decide what comes next.
THE QUESTION
What holds us together when the truth is expensive and everyone is sure they're right?
AMERICA AT 250
Making hard choices together when the stakes are high is democracy's oldest challenge. Written in 1882 and now reimagined in Amy Herzog's sharp contemporary version, Ibsen's play reads like today's headlines. Not because it predicted a single crisis, but because it understood the test every community faces when a warning and a livelihood collide.

The Lobby Experience
In collaboration with Wild Bloom Society
We're always looking for ways to enhance the experience of a New City Players production beyond the stage. At An Enemy of the People, the conversation starts before you take your seat — and continues long after the curtain comes down. Here's what you can expect in the lobby:
Poems from the Public Square
The lobby during the production will be transformed into a space for poetry, participation, and communal reflection. Featuring original works by local poets inspired by the production, the exhibition invites audiences to encounter poetry before and after the performance.
Beyond the Stage Events
Theatre has always been a public square, a place where a community gathers to wrestle with the questions that matter. Beyond the Stage extends that conversation past the final bow. Your ticket includes post-show talkbacks with artists and special guests, plus celebrations and wine downs with fellow audience members. After each production closes, The Space invites audiences back for an evening of connection and dialogue, with free or discounted admission for Season Pass holders.
